Ayr Utd 1-3 Ross County
Ross County showed why they are champions of the first division with a superb second half display against Ayr Utd.
Ayr Utd formed a guard of honour for the Ross County team as they came out to a chorus of 'Championees' for the big travelling support
The first half saw County control most of the game, but it was Ayr who were to have the first real chance, and although the ball ended up in the net, the whistle had long gone for offside.
County too had the ball in the net, but again it was disallowed due to Colin McMenamin being offside when he headed past the keeper.
County had other chances, but were unable to beat the keeper before the break.
With the scores still level at half time, it only took a couple of minutes in the second half for County to take the lead. Michael Gardyne firing a low shot across goal finding the far bottom corner of the net. And although the fans had been in good voice for the match, this goal sparked a little added volume to the celebrations.
However Ayr were to hit back when Alan Trouten ran at the County defence, and fired the ball between the legs of Michael Fraser.
But within four minutes of being pegged back Ross County re-took the lead, when Colin McMenamin headed in.
With the fans party in the Railway end now in full swing, the team turned on the style on the pitch as the passed the ball about well, and it was no surprise they added a third goal six minutes from time when substitute Sam Morrow fired the ball into the net.
County now extended their unbeaten run to 30 league games, and moved 17 points at the top of the league.
After the full time whistle the players and management team joined in with the fans party, along with doing the obligatory press photos.
