Ross County 5-1 Hamilton Accies
Irn-Bru Division One
Victoria Park, Dingwall
Sat. 28th April 2012
Ross County celebrated being crowned First Division champions in style with a thumping 5-1 win over Hamilton Accies - ironically the only team to beat us in the league this season, and that by the same scoreline.
With Victoria Park bursting at the seams long before kick-off, it was clear that nothing was going to spoil any celebrations - and nothing did !
County got off to an excellent start when Colin McMenamin scored after only six minutes, he converted a cross from captain Richard Brittain.
Richard Brittain turned from provider to scorer just before half time when his shot from the edge of the box squirmed in at the near post to give County a 2-0 half time lead.
Hamilton though pulled a goal back quickly after the restart, when James MacAlister's long range short sneaked past Michael Fraser, but County quickly restored the two goal advantage, when Stuart Kettlewell converted Iain Vigurs' cross.
Richard Brittain scored his second and County's fourth of the match mid-way through the second half when he hammered a shot in from a tight angle.
The scoring was completed when Michael Gardyne hammered the ball into the roof of the net.
Following the game the Irn-Bru First Division trophy was presented to the County players befrore the team paraded the cup around Dingwall on the open top bus
